This was a song that a friend in the family sang at my mom’s funeral 12 years ago – it was perfect then; it is a perfect song today because I am healthy, happy, and content 🙂

I see friends helping friends, helpin’ strangers too,
Folks with eyes of brown, green or blue
The love in their hearts – my thoughts swirled
And I think to myself – what a wonderful world.
Yes I think to myself What a Wonderful World!

    I seriously want those scissors!
I’ve always wanted to do some quilting, but never figured it out.
I think I need to watch a few more youtube videos lol

I have loved this song when done originally by Louis Armstrong. Israel Kamakawiwo’ole (no way can I pronounce his name) has also done it with a ukelele which is really cool as well. There’s something so soul-soothing about the words and the melody that speak to me every single time I hear it. It’s on my I-Pod as well. It’s all about taking time to enjoy life and enjoy those around you. It’s all about not rushing through the day, but taking the time to notice all of God’s wonderful world! Thanks for everything.

This is perfect for me. This weekend my niece graduated from her residency program. As a child she would look at me with her beautiful eyes and I was in love. She has now grown into this amazing, beautiful, talent women. I love her even without all of that just as I did when she was little.

Love to me is seeing the new Sun come up every morning, having my Sister open her eyes and giving me the smallest hint of recognition after life saving surgery, my husband calling “Honey, I’m home” as he comes up from the garage, the Joy of friends, the happy ring of my telephone on my Birthday promising a chat full of “remember whens” and laughter. My quilt coming back from Pat my quilter looking even more beautiful than when it left my house. Life is Love, just the everyday things that we do, all our prayers and hopes tied into one. Thanks for reminding me to LOVE LIFE!

What a wonderful world is watching my grandson’s face light up and smile as he learns new things and when he sees his Nana!! Also watching my 2 youngest nieces learning to sew and the look on their faces when it turns out the way it should. We made pillowcases last Thanksgiving and we are now working on sewing their own rag quilts this summer!

I love your new blog! I miss Thimbles – I keep trying to get there, but something always comes up and I can’t make it. I hope to soon!

Our military put themselves in harms way each day so we can enjoy the freedoms we have. Our country has many beautiful sights to see as well. Being with family and friends is always rewarding. Seeing people reach out to those in need due to hard times or tragedy is amazing . All these things and much more makes this a wonderful world. I like the new web site. So many things make our world wonderful! Especially quilting. . . but when I hear this song, I am very nostalgic for family – those still here and those have already left us. Snap out of my sappiness – I love the wonderful world of quilting – the friends who join me in my passion for quilting, the shops I visit and those online that I hope one day to visit and most of all the blogging world that has opened us all to more of what we love! Thanks for your blog – I love it!

What a delightful question! Thanks for reminding us to count our blessings. I could name many things but the first thing that comes to my mind is my two-year old granddaughter. I love her so much it takes my breath away.

I recently thought It’s a Wonderful World when I finished up a baby quilt and gave it a spin in the wash and it didn’t fall apart! It makes me to smile to think about all the happy cuddling time that quilt get. (P.S. I used your bias binding tutorial. Easy Peasy)

I never hear that song without getting tears in my eyes. In fact, I don’t even need to hear it, just thinking about it gets me started. My daughter teaches kindergarten and is often given children’s books as gifts from friends and family. I remember the Christmas when she opened a copy of What a Wonderful World illustrated by Ashley Bryan. Just turning the pages and seeing all the illustrations with drawings of Louie Armstrong somewhere on every page made me “hear” the song as I read the words. I have often wondered why I have such a strong reaction to that song and then finally realized it is because we do truly live in a wonderful world.

  42. 42

OH what a gorgeous way to look at life!!!! Getting up on the right side of the grass each day makes me think…..’what a beautiful world’…..whenever negative thoughts creep in, I creep out to the garden and think how lucky we are to have everything perfect around us…….Oh what a beautiful world…we are truly blessed! And I’m so glad I found your blog……just added you to my Bloglovin feed……nothing like a bit of Bloglovin in the morn!!!! sugary hugs :O)

Oh, my!!… Love that song, as it truly is a wonderful world!!!
(… The colors of the rainbow, in the pretty fabrics I’m working with!)
… “And also in the faces of the people passing by”…
    “It’s a wonderful world!”…
I see it, most importantly, in the smiles in my dear grandsons as they come running to me for grandma hugs!!… … In the loving hugs of my daughter, my sons, and the “daughters” they gave me in marriage!!
    I AM blessed!!
