Renee’s First Quilts

In every one’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.

I wanted to show you two quilts by Renee’ these quilts are the first and second quilts for this new quilter. I’m telling you this lady and her relaxed sense of color and fabric choices is so amazing and rare in a new quilter. In the first quilt she mixed batiks with tons of other fabrics and tons of colors.. You can tell she did not agonize over every color and every placement. She let the design speak and put the fabbies together. The quilts look antiquey, old and scrappy, the way women would have put a quilt together years ago. I think she was surprised by my reaction, which was amazement and excitement. I really was impressed (ok so you got that part!)

Now lets look at these quilts. They are very old and will be getting repaired by Sue…see what I mean? Old and New…

I can’t wait to see what Renee’ does for her third quilt. Should be very interesting. What do you think?

I have such a hard life dealing with all this show and tell stuff…don’t worry about me I’m just fine in Georgia. Please come for a visit on the third weekend of EVERY SINGLE MONTH!!!!!

The Karinanator

It always comes back to the same necessity: go deep enough and there is a bedrock of truth, however hard.

Another weekend of club meetings and sewing with friends. This weekend is the annual Greater Atlanta Shop Hop so tons of people were reporting in on the goings on. I talked to friend and she said they made 900 goodies bags and they were all gone with one more day to go. HOLEY TRAFFIC JAM IN THE SHOP!!!! I’m planning to visit one shop with Debbie, Kristie and Becky today but after that I’m still better off just sewing at home. The thought of going to 12 shops just makes my credit card start to sweat.

I want you to meet Karin aka THE KARINANATOR so named by me because she is nuthin but trouble. This is what I did to the Karinanator during my class on Saturday. Now, most of you know I try to conduct myself with some degree of style and grace as is deep in the custom of my southern lady roots. But some days a girl just has to do what a girl has to do when teaching a class with CONSTANT interruptions. This was my solution. What do you think?

After Karin was properly silenced. Julie decided to use my Pink Duct tape for exfoliation purposes. After all it is springtime in Atlanta…time to bring out the Capri pants!

I love my pink duct tape! It is so useful.
